JOURNAL + BOOKLET Roger Pierre TURINE
The very first publication orchestrated by the new Jean Rustin Foundation takes the form of a "two-volumes-in-one" edition: on one hand, a collection of all the articles written by art critic Roger Pierre Turine about Rustin’s work, compiled in the format of a journal; on the other hand, the publication of a long interview conducted by Turine with the artist in 2008.
RUSTIN, La Peinture à Nu by Roger Pierre Turine – Interview and Critical Insights
This work is the result of a meeting between two close acquaintances of Jean Rustin, both of whom developed a deep passion for painting and a friendship with the artist: Maurice Verbaet, president of the Jean Rustin Foundation, presents an interview conducted by journalist and art critic Roger Pierre Turine. Carried out in 2008 over four encounters with the painter, this conversation sheds light on Rustin’s life journey but, above all, allows us to grasp the essence of a painting that reaches "the depths of things."
Such a perspective could only resonate with what drives Maurice Verbaet: the bold and ever-renewed challenge of spreading an oeuvre that is profoundly lucid and, therefore, intensely provocative. Through this publication, Verbaet pays tribute to two unwavering and unfiltered gazes—Rustin’s, upon his marvelous creatures, and Turine’s, upon the work he loves and has tirelessly sought to bring to light.
Limited edition of 300 copies, including 250 numbered and signed.
